When I first received my 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier Rally Sport, I was not too happy. I was expecting a pick-up since I'm a guy who's into looking big and being seen by everyone. I cannot say that I am not seen in my car...I'm actually noticed a lot by many friends and neighbors. It's hard to not notice the 17-year-old boy driving a white car with purple tints that have air bubbles (that came when my family first got the car) and 2/4 broken speakers, rust on the hood and side panels, dented hood and body, paint chipping in multiple areas on the car mainly on the stock bodykit, and the massive amount of rust that has been building up under the hood and underbody of the car. A few years ago my sister purchased this vehicle and as I've noticed while driving, neither her or the previous owner treated this car with care. I am a High School senior who is planning on going to college next year therefore I have no spare money to spend on my car. I am currently enrolled in a program called Automotive Technology at G.C Tech. in Levittown, NY. In this class I am learning a lot about cars and repairs. Sadly, the course doesn't cover auto-body and electronics however since my teacher and I get along very well, he decided that he would let me and my class work on my car but only if i bought and brought the parts to work on it. But since I'm saving for college, I need to save my money. I'm really interested in working on my car but my parents believe that it's unnecessary for my to work on making my car perform and look better, therefore they deny my requests to purchase parts for my car.
To improve my car i plan to change the Front, Rear, and Side Bodykits, Get rid on the body rust, remove the purple tints and replace them with something coordination with the new body color I hope to get, fix the electrical problems that disable the 2 speakers from working and hopefully place in some Amps. and Subs., Hood Scope, Lambo. Doors, reacing stripes or a custom paint job, replace rusted parts with better performance parts, bigger spoiler, new rims, and painting over that purple and teal "Rally Sport" logo on the car
Even though this car needs a lot of work, I love it because it's MY car and I appreciate the time I spend in it, driving around. Driving around alone or with my girlfriend makes me feel secure and relaxed. I often get overwhelmed with school work, sports (football and lacrosse), and family situations, so it just feels great to get away from it all and drive around aimlessly. I believe that appearance to society has a lot to do with self-confidence and driving this car, even though I love it, is embarrassing to drive up to my High School and around my town where there are other kids my age driving around their own brand new cars that their rich parents bought for them. These kids get brand new hot cars and total them the first week, then get another one. my parents said that If i total my car or even get into any type of accident, that I will not get another car, be banned from driving any other car in my family, and get kicked off the insurance agency, thus making me pay full +3,500 for my own insurance if my car is able to keep running.
If there are sponsors who are looking for someone who will drive around a lot showing off the parts and spread good news to customers that person is me. I am willing to put any decals/stickers of that company to advertise that brand.
